ZOEgirl has come a long way. From being the most successful debut artist
in Sparrow Records history, with an addictive pop sound, to the progressive,
guitar-driven pop/rock you'll hear on their new album, "Different Kind of
Free."
The thought-provoking title came from the track by the same name. The song
talks about God taking over our lives completely, and how even though we give
complete control to him, we are truly free and it's a much different kind of
free.
The album is filled with songs that will stick in your head for hours and
cause you to think. In the past, ZOEgirl has tackled such issues as
self-confidence, materialism, and dating a non- believer. They continue to
touch on the hard issues - especially with the touching pop song about
self-esteem "Love Me For Me."
One of the biggest highlights of the album for me is the first single, "You
Get Me." This song could easily be dubbed the best
"raise-your-hands-to-the-sky, drive-with-your-windows-down" praise
song of the year. Other highlights include "Beautiful Name," and
the aforementioned "Love Me For Me" and "Different Kind of
Free."
ZOEgirl has been going non-stop since their self-titled debut, but their efforts
have been well worth it. They have touched countless teenage girls, amazed
millions of fans in concert and have provided us with some of the best Christian
pop music in the stores today. This album is no different. Although
it's a "different kind of sound," it's still the same girls that we
love and is well worth listening to. The album releases in September.
