Tammy Trent is an amazing lady.
On September 11, 2001, when thousands of people in America were having the worst
day of their life, Tammy was far away in Jamaica, having the worst day in hers,
but for a completely different reason. Tammy had lost her beloved husband,
Trent in a tragic diving accident. The days, weeks and ultimately years
that have followed have produced what eventually become this album, "I See
Beautiful."
This album is full of awesome, heartfelt, heart-tugging songs. "At
the Foot of the Cross" paints a beautiful picture of surrendering your life
to God and finding a place "where I am made complete," as the lyrics
say. The honest song, "I'm Not Listening" talks about resisting
temptations and staying strong in her faith in God. Perhaps the most
vulnerable song on the album is "Rescue Me" where Tammy speaks
directly from her heart about the struggles she faced in the days after her
husband passed away.
Tammy's signature has been the contagious beat in her songs, which is definitely
displayed here. But another signature that she has is encouragement in her
lyrics. Previous hits like "Welcome Home" displayed this, and
she has a whole string of new songs on this beautiful album, poised to do just
that. The tragedy of losing her husband eventually blossomed into an
incredible ministry that Tammy has been able to have. She is an incredible
witness to millions because of how she relied on God and never gave up
hope. I know that I am thankful for that, along with millions of others
that "see beautiful" all through Tammy.
