Bart Millard you say? Sounds familiar. It should. As the lead singer of the mega-hit group Mercy Me, Bart and his band mates have already made music history with songs like "Homesick", "Here With Me"...and oh, what was that song...yes, "I Can Only Imagine."
Bart has stepped out on his own for a short time to record a hymns album that is done in an absolutely delightful mix of country and light pop. Don't worry, this isn't the end of Mercy Me. I, for one, am glad that Bart took enough time out to record this CD.
The highlight of this album is "In the Sweet By and By (MaMaw's Song)" which is a sweet tribute to his grandmother. This song combines an original song about his grandmother mixed with "In the Sweet By and By" in the chorus.
Bart calls this album something that he thought his Grandmother would enjoy hearing. Bart picked a large selection of old hymns and re-created something beautiful without loosing the true sound and special feeling of the old hymns. Without a doubt, a job well done.
