Their first album hasn't been out long and already these girls are superstars.
Alyson Michalka has already enjoyed an acting job on Disney Channel's "Phil of the Future." Playing a cute, quirky teenage girl, Alyson (or Aly as she is nicknamed) is a favorite of hundreds of fans. Now with the release of a Disney Channel movie called "Cow Belles," fans can be introduced to Aly's sister Amanda Joy Michalka (or AJ as she is called). Not that they don't already know who these girls are.
Aly and AJ's first album, "Into the Rush" has met with enormous success. Right now they might be known for their covers of other people's hit songs (Do You Believe in Magic and Walking on Sunshine), but these girls write everything else that they record, something that is extremely impressive for two so young. But these girls have a message they want to get out.
For instance, the song "I Am One of Them" shows the girls strong feelings about missing children. Aly says that she and AJ always felt strongly about the subject of missing children and they wanted to bring more awareness to the topic. Another song, "Sticks and Stones" is about being bullied. The song they released for Christian radio, "Never Far Behind" is about always being there - friends, relatives, or as AJ says, "We can relate as close sisters. The last chorus reminds us that God is never far behind. He's always there no matter what."
Don't let two beautiful faces and thousands of teenage fans fool you into thinking that Aly & AJ are full of fluff. They are two wonderfully talented young ladies and their message is strong - it is wonderful to think they it will reach millions because of its strong beat and the instantly likeable girls who say their faith is a strong inspiration for them.
