Sparrow Records’ gold-selling vocal group, Avalon,
recently announced the addition of Melissa Greene to the group. Greene replaces
soprano Cherie Adams who has decided to pursue a solo career, both singing and
speaking at women’s conferences. Adams is also coming out with a book at the
end of the year, which is geared towards Christian single women. Greene, who
joins Avalon members Michael Passons, Jody McBrayer and Janna Long, was formerly
with the vocal group Truth.
With Greene immediately in place, Avalon is currently preparing for their
"Joy Christmas Tour" to promote the top-selling CBA Christmas album,
Joy, and performing across the country throughout the fall and winter.
Their current studio release, Oxygen, continues to receive strong support from
radio. The album’s fourth top five single, "Undeniably You," is
currently #2 on Christian AC radio. After their Christmas tour, the group will
begin recording in the spring for their 2003 fall release.
Avalon has recorded five albums, received sixteen Dove nominations, thirteen #1
radio singles, two gold records as well as a Grammy nomination.
