1. If you could have any other profession, what would it be?  I would be a wide receiver in the National Football League.  I was wide receiver in college for one year--part of a year--before I realized that I’m not big enough, strong enough or fast enough.

2. What profession would you never want to have? I think anything to do with sewage would be a good start.  I spent my summers on my grandparents’ farm in South Dakota, a dairy farm, where you would have to shovel manure sometimes.

3. What are you afraid of? Sometimes I get afraid of--this is weird--big things.  Like when I go to the ocean at night, and I look out at the ocean...A lot of times it has to do with water or things that are so large they’re kind of overwhelming.  It kind of takes my breath away, and I get spooked by it.

4. What makes you laugh? My brothers.  I have two brothers and when you get the three of us together...we can just make each other laugh forever about the stupidest things in the world, so it’s a lot of fun.

5. What’s currently in your CD player?  I’m not gonna tell you, it’s embarrassing.  OK, Thriller...I just went and got it at one of those used music stores the other day.

6. What movie has impacted you the most and why? Schindler’s List.  The tragedies that went on, but also the salvation that came through one man making a difference and trying to make a difference and the similarities between that and how we share the message of the gospel--that impacted me greatly.

7. What’s your favorite hymn? “Great Is They Faithfulness.”  My grandfather was also a singer, as well as being a dairy farmer, and he sang “The Lord’s Prayer”...So I would say also “The Lord’s Prayer."

8. What are your nicknames?  My dad's one of those guys who makes up nicknames for his kids...and mine was Doogies.  He calls me that once in a while.

9. If you had to pick a song to be your theme song, what would it be?  Probably “Amazing Grace” for this reason:  I believe that without Christ I am wretched.  I have seen that.  The sooner we see that in our own lives the better because then we will learn to lean on His grace.

10. What is the most meaningful present you’ve ever received?  I think the nicest, most meaningful gift was my wife giving me her hand in marriage.
