Wait For Me
"Three small words that say so much. They speak a tribute to sexual purity,
the beauty of God's Way, and to the power of His forgiveness. Wait For Me. Three
words that also symbolize God's Love for His bride. They speak of His desire
that we be found waiting for Him, in purity of heart, mind and soul."
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an
example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, and in purity." - 1
Timothy 4:12 NIV
Speak To Me
"In the summer of 95, I was spending time with a friend of mine and he
played me some chords on his guitar. I will never forget hearing those notes for
the first time. I'd been reading in the Bible where Samuel said, "Speak for
your servant is listening."
(1 Samuel 3:10-NIV) The ideas came together and a song was born." - Rebecca
St James
Song Of Love
"I remember the night we were to record the vocals
for 'Lamb of God'. There was one problem...I had no verses written for the song!
I prayed and started reading in Revelation and within the hour I had a melody,
lyrics and I was singing them to tape!"
"Then I
heard what sounded like a great multitude like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns." - Revelation 19:6 NIV
Stand
""Stand" was written as a theme song for an event
called "Stand up 2000." It was first performed in front of 50,000
young people at the Detroit Silverdome. This song is a call for us to rise up
and be used by God to change the world."
"Be strong
and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your
God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NIV
Expressions of Your Love
"The heavens tell the Glory of God. The skies
display his marvelous craftsmanship." - Psalm 19:1 In the fall of 2002 I
toured with Chris Tomlin and had the privilege of writing this song with him and
my producer Matt. God shows his power and beauty in a million different ways
each day. How much we miss by not stopping to express our praise for His
wonders.
Yes I Believe in God
These words inspired a nation, and inspired a song in me. At Columbine High
School this statement of faith was spoken and a young girl lost her life. You
and I may never be tested with a gun in our face, but every day we choose
whether we will live the truth we know.
"Whoever lives and believes in me
will never die." - John 11:26
I Thank You
It's been ten years since I began in Christian music. So much water has
passed under the bridge since then; so many prayers have been answered, my faith
has been tested and deepened - God has been faithful. This is my prayer of
gratefulness.
"Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!" - Psalm
106:1-NLT
Reborn
I have had the privilege of seeing people come to know Christ at our
concerts, but of a personal friend come to know Him as well. To see the joy and
excitement in her new 'Reborn' life is beautiful.
"No one
can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again." - John 3:3- NIV
Go And Sin No More
Over the years I have been privileged to hear many stories of how God has
used my music to touch hearts. With very deep honesty some young people have
even shared with me how God kept them from committing suicide because of a song.
Almost every time it was this one that gave them hope to live.
"Go and Sin No More" - John 8:11
Pray
Prayer is such an essential for me - it gives me strength in my weakness and
centers my focus on God, away from myself. "Melt me away 'til only you
remain."
"If my people, who are called by my name,
will humble themselves and pray. then I will forgive their sins and heal their
land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
Cradle Prayer
Usually songs take hours, days or even weeks to write. This song was a total
miracle. It took 20-30 minutes. We prayed specifically about the right lyrics
and this is the idea that came to me...Imagine yourself, sitting by baby Jesus'
cradle on the night He was born, and singing to Him everything you were feeling
inside! - The lyrics just flowed onto the paper."
"My heart burst its banks, spilling beauty or goodness. I pour it out in a
poem to the King, shaping the river into words." - Psalm 45:1 The Message
Mirror
"I was sitting on the floor of the studio praying when God gave me the
first few lines of this song. In a society that so often focuses on how we look
on the outside, "Mirror" challenges me to seek the beauty of the
heart."
"May the words of my mouth and the
meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight." -Psalm 19:14 NIV
