When the Mountains Fall
This song was born over breakfast at the Pancake Pantry restaurant in
Nashville, TN. My friend Wes, from the youth group told me about a card he read
that said... "Faith is coming to the edge of all you know and trusting God
will give you something to stand on or you will be taught to fly."
Back in His Arms Again
One of my college students from the youth group came home for Christmas
break disappointed because he had gotten so far away from God. I wrote this song
as an encouragement of God’s promise to pursue him.
Think of Me
This song came from the last day of a missions trip I took with several High
School seniors. It was bittersweet knowing they were going off to college, but
reassuring to know they were bound in Christ.
I Have Been There
This song was inspired by a sermon at church. The main point was there is no
place or situation we can go through where God’s not already been and
overcome. He promises to meet us there everytime. We are not alone.
Kyrie Eleison
I remember the first time I heard "Kyrie Eleison" was in High
School driving down the road in my Ford Fiesta with my windows down and the
radio turned up all the way. "Kyrie Eleison" translated means -
"Lord Have Mercy On Us". I love in the 2nd verse how it talks about
following the path of God. I wish I had written this song.
Holy One
I wrote this song from the perspective of someone who knew Jesus as a
friend. Chris Rice came and sang on this one.
Back to You
I was sitting on a dock in the country of Greece and watching the sunset. It
was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. It was extremely colorful and when
you closed your eyes you could actually hear nature singing.
Time of My Life
This was written for my friend Jared Meadors’ wedding. I had just moved to
Nashville so I had a hard time finding a piano. I wrote most of it in my
bathtub.
Faith, Hope and Love
I wrote this song for my graduating seniors a couple years ago. We sang it
together on Youth Sunday. I had no idea it would end up on a record.
We Are Calling You
Here’s another Youth Sunday song. Todd and Nicole Smith from the group
Selah came in and added the Congo language. They grew up as missionary kids in
Africa. Not bad for a song that stays on the same note for five minutes.
