Let's Fly
"The world measures success by what we own,
what positions we hold in the corporate world. Even as believers we so easily
slip into the world's mentality. But in God's economy, success is so different.
God sometimes works in what we think of as a backward way. He uses the foolish
to teach, the weak to win battles, and tragedy is often the tool he uses to draw
us to a greater level of dependence on Him."
I Like
"This song started out to be a song for my husband, Eddie. But it is a
reflection of that deeper relationship we have with the Lord. It is a simple
song about enjoying the presence of God.
Definitely
"This is an intentionally evangelistic song. I remember singing at a
church, and at the close of the concert the pastor got up and prayed, 'Lord, You
are just so crazy about us.' He used that phrase, and it stuck with me because
it is not a 'churchy' kind of phrase."
Come What May
"This is a nature song that alludes to the scripture that says, 'The
heavens declare the glory of God.' It exudes an attitude of peace, that whatever
comes in our lives - and if you have walked with the Lord for any length of time
you know that it is not always easy - we are safe in Him. There are more than
three hundred passages in the Bible that say 'Do not fear,' ' Have no fear,' or
'Fear not!' I find that fascinating. It seems obvious that the Lord is trying to
get a message through to us. Fear not! I am here. I have a plan."
Say You Love Me
"I have those perfectionist tendencies that come from when I was young
and are trying so hard to please mom and dad. You want to make them proud, and
you learn that when you do certain things, when you perform a certain way or
when you are dressed a certain way there is approval and compliments. There is
praise or adoration. The problem comes when you carry that over into your faith
experience. With all my perfectionist tendencies, I want to have arrived
already. But God says, 'No, we have a lifetime.' I am much better now at just
resting in Christ; in knowing that He is doing a work in me and He is not done
yet."
Save Me a Place
"As believers, many times we don't feel the way we think we should be
feeling. We think we should always feel victorious, that we should always be
conquering, that we should always be at peace and have joy. But that isn't our
reality. That's where faith comes in, when you stand on the promises that you
know are true - even when you are not feeling it at the time."
Posies
"This is a timely song about integrity, even though I never use that
word in the song. Who are you when no one else is with you? Of course there is
grace for those times when we don't measure up, but I think there is a call
going out for people to be who they say they are.
Suitcase
"How many times are we aware of our failure? How many times have we
disappointed God and each other? Because we have filled our hearts with the
truth there is forgiveness. But like the song says, I need to hear it
again."
Flooding
"This is a vertical song. It is about those special moments when you
feel like you are communing with God. The passion and the joy that you can
experience in the Lord are really beyond words, so I am pleased with this song
for the emotion that it evokes. Lyrics aside, the way the music makes me feel
still gives me chills, even today."
Christ in Me
"The wonder of Christ being willing to come and live inside of me.
Would He really do that? What a wonder! It is only because of Christ in me that
people see any amount of love in me."
