Share with us your personal songwriting process.
"Any Road, Any Cost," recorded by Point Of Grace on Life, Love & Other Mysteries, was written in February 1996. I wanted to write a song about a place of willingness I'd like to be...sort of an encouragement to strive toward going wherever God leads, whatever it is, no matter the cost. I had the title in my notebook for a few months (got it while reading My Utmost For His Highest). I sat down at a piano in California and began to write the chorus. I had a few verse ideas but needed some help. I called Tony Wood from San Diego, and, a few days later (now in Colorado Springs), we had most of the song. We cleaned up the rough edges and wrote a bridge back in Nashville. When I heard the Point Of Grace version for the first time, tears came to my eyes. God was using the song in my life...confronting and convicting. It all comes from Him!

What is your favorite movie?
"It's A Wonderful Life"...I still cry every time I see it.

Who are your favorite authors?
C.S. Lewis, Frederick Buechner, Max Lucado

What is your favorite food?

Vanilla ice cream covered with Hershey's Chocolate Syrup!

What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who don't signal when driving.

What is your favorite Bible verse?

Psalm 139...it reminds me that God is God; and I am not.

Who are your favorite Bible characters?
David...because of his honesty. I sense that he felt things deeply and passionately. He was able to admit when he was wrong and ask for forgiveness. And, of course, he was quite a writer!
Paul...because of his passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his willingness to share it at any cost.
I'd like to note also that, sometimes when I'm reading Scripture, I see the characters as just that..."characters." I forget that these were real people in real places at a real time in history. The Bible isn't just a nice book we get to read, it is the truth...it is the Word of God! Wow! What a gift!

Why do you do what you do?
I write songs because I have to. There's something inside looking for a way out, and songwriting is usually the way. It's a chance to communicate or simply release what I'm going through or care about.
