Q. Why is "Circle of Friends" listed as a rarity on Rarities and Remixes?
A. The popular song from the "Life Love and Other Mysteries" CD is, in fact, a rarity. The version on "Rarities and Remixes" is different from the "Life Love and Other Mysteries version." The one on "Rarities and Remixes" is an acoustic version, available only on the album and their home video.

A. They have three gift books - Circle of Friends, When Love Came Down and How You Live.  All include the CD single that the book is based around. They also have six books: Life Love and Other Mysteries is a biography and question and answer book; Steady On...Secured By Love is a devotional; Girls of Grace is a devotional and Bible study; Make it Real is the follow-up to Girls of Grace and is another devotional and Bible study; Keep the Candle Burning is a book that tells the stories behind their hit songs and finally there is the Girls of Grace Daily Devotional.  The girls also have a home video called "Life Love and Other Mysteries" that includes interviews, music videos and concert performances.  They also have a DVD out called "7" that includes all of their music videos. Their albums are: Say So (independent), Point of Grace, The Whole Truth, Life Love and Other Mysteries, Steady On, A Christmas Story, Rarities and Remixes, Free to Fly, Girls of Grace, 24, I Choose You, Winter Wonderland and How You Live.

Q. How did the husbands propose?:
Denise I was at summer school back in Ok. Stu kids me and says I was taking "football physics". Anyway, I was waiting in a hallway for a classmate to get out of class because we were going to lunch. I notice this cute guy in an office acting rather confused and frustrated. When he came out of the office, I asked him if he needed some help. He stopped and explained why he was so frustrated from being sent to about 5 different offices to try and enroll in scuba diving. We began to chat and realized we had some mutual acquaintances. He then basically invited himself to lunch with my friend and me. About 3 days later, Stu looked up my name in the phone book and gave me a call. Our first date was pizza and putt putt. It seemed like we had known each other forever. Three weeks later I went back to school at Ouachita. We talked on the phone all of the time and wrote letters to each other. I got out of school and moved back to OK. We dated about 18 months. On New Year's Eve, we were going to go out to dinner and then come home and have celebrate New Year's at my parents house. We always did that with friends and family. My favorite food is meat and potatoes. We went to Steak and Ale. I didn't think anything about it. I just love the food. We are sitting there and I'm chowing down. Stu has to go to the bathroom several times. (Little did I know it's because he was totally sick to his stomach). After we ate and we were waiting on dessert, he begins to talk about how special I am and how much I mean to him, (still I have no clue). Then he all of the sudden stands up and walks over and gets down on his knee. I began to totally freak. He asks me to marry him; I say yes and the rest is history. We got married 9 months later on Sept. 19. That night after he proposed, we went home and all of our families were there with a cake and everything. The other POG girls were in Arkansas that night. They called to congratulate us. Ya see, they knew already because Shelley made sure that she helped Stu pick the ring. (She was working part time at a jewelry store at the time. Very convenient) By the way, Stu never did get his scuba license.

Shelley  I met David at a meeting that POG was having with a booking agency that he worked for. We didn't have our first date until 2 years later. David flew to Colorado Springs where we were doing a concert about nine months after we started dating. We were on tour at the time (with Aaron Jeffrey I think) and I thought I would probably get a ring sometime when I got home from the tour. So I was very surprised when David showed up to surprise me after the show. He rented a limo and brought me roses and proposed to me as the limo drove off from the concert. A funny side note is that he had ordered the limo filled with balloons that said "I Love You" and when the limo arrived to pick him up, the balloons said "Happy Anniversary" by mistake, so he had to let them all go!! To compensate, the driver let us use the phone in the limo to call all our relatives for free to tell them the good news!!

Heather  I met Brian at church in Franklin, TN. He was a Pharmaceutical Salesman and was teaching the mid-week Bible Study for our church. We started dating in November of 1998 (I was 29 and he was 31) and we got married in April of 1999. Yes, we had a short courtship, but I think the older you get, the more you can make an informed and wise decision. Besides, I had been praying for this guy my whole life and here he was right in front of me. The reason that we got married so fast was because Brian was going to be leaving for Seminary and we didn't want to be apart. We knew it wasn't a matter of "if", but "when" we would be married and he had won a trip to Hawaii with his job and we couldn't go to Hawaii unmarried, so we decided to let that be our Honeymoon. God provided an all-expense paid Honeymoon to Maui. By the way, I planned our wedding in a little less than a month.

Leigh  I met my lovely husband in a singing group called "Truth"... after about 4 weeks of being in the group, he proposed. He proposed to me, by coming to the hotel room that I was sharing with another girl in the group and actually, came by to check on me because I was not feeling well... so then he began to pray over me, and as he was finishing the prayer, he said something along these lines, "Please help Leigh say Yes to me when, I ask her to marry me. Amen!"...Dana, my husband, had the ring underneath a pillow and when he said "Amen", I looked up and there "it" was, a HUGE diamond... I said, "YES, YES YES !!!!".

Terry  Chris and I met in college at Ouachita Baptist University as freshman, the second semester. We had some classes together; I liked his personality from the beginning and thought he was pretty cute. We dated through most of college. Chris proposed to me in Central Park in New York City, November of 1993. POG was singing there that night at Carnegie Hall. Chris took me to tea at the Plaza and then for a walk around, we ended up in Central Park where he had planned to ask me to marry him, a huge surprise to me! We walked about 10 steps and there beside the beautiful pond and trees Chris proposed to me. It was very romantic and I of course said "yes". He had picked out a beautiful ring for me all by himself. I will never forget that awesome day.

Q. How did Point of Grace get their name and what does it mean to them?
A.  Denise Most of you know that our first name was "Say So". Taken from the verse in Psalm 107:2. We found out that there was another group called "Say So" and they had it first. We had all kinds of contests and people who wrote in to give there thoughts. We had finished our first recording on Word records, done the photo shoot, and still had no name. Our manager called and said we were coming to his house and were not leaving until we came up with a name. The man John Mays who signed us to Word sent a sheet of some of his thoughts. One of them was "Point of Grace" it hit all of us. We called John and asked where he came up with it. He had read a book by C.S. Lewis that said something to the effect of "We live everyday at the point of God's grace". That statement rang so true to where we seemed to be at the time and still true today

Heather  In the beginning we were named Say So. There was already a group named Say So, so we had to change our name. We went through thousands of name ideas, but nothing was right. Our A & R guys at the time, John Mays, gave us a list and on that list was the name Point of Grace. It was the only one that all of us agreed on. Later on, John told us that he read the phrase in a book by C.S. Lewis, something like, "Everyday, we as Christians live at the point of God's grace." That is what it means to me. Always living in His grace.

Q. What does any POG song mean to you?
A. Denise  I have always loved the song "I have No Doubt". It seems like at every turn in our lives we have no idea where we are headed. I have read over and over again in the Bible that God will never leave me or forsake me. Sometimes my head tells me that, but my heart will doubt its truth. As I get older, I am realizing more and more how true it is and that I can trust him even when the road is so dark that I can't hardly see to put one foot in front of the other. I can't say that I always live my life like I believe it, but when I listen to that song; I'm reminded that it is true.

Shelley  My favorite song has to be The Great Divide. It is such a beautiful and pictoral way to demonstrate the gospel. I can't tell you how many people have told me that this was the song that brought the gospel to life for them.

Heather  I love the song My God. I remember listening to the demo before we recorded it. I would be running on the treadmill with that song in my headphones. It makes God so big. At that time in my life I needed to be reminded of the bigness of God. He is sovereign in everything, and He loves me even though I don't deserve it. The world may let me down, but the Lord never will. Especially if I keep a kingdom perspective. The song still inspires me.

Leigh  Well, for me, it may be a little different... I remember hearing "Who am I" for the first time as an audience particapator... it is a question that at some point in our journey with the Lord, that we will or have already asked... Our humanity finds it very difficult to grab a hold of a concept so marvelous, but OH, is it ever true... Christ loves us so much that He sent Jesus to demonstrate that love... that is "who I am". - Leigh

Q. How did each of the POG girls become Christians?
A.  Denise  I grew up with Godly parents and around Godly grandparents. I knew from the beginning of my life that there was a God who loved me. When I was six years old I begin to realize that I was a sinner and needed a savior. I wasn't going to go to heaven just because I was a good girl. I talked to my parents about it; my dad took me to meet with my pastor. It was there that I prayed to receive Jesus into my life.

Shelley  I grew up in church, really never believing anything other than the gospel of Jesus Christ, but I didn't make a public profession of my faith until I was 13 years old after I had gone through confirmation class. Then, when I was in the 10th grade, I went to a church camp with my friend and learned more about what it meant to have a personal relationship with Christ. This was a real turning point for me. I would say my "walk" began at that point.

Heather  I was raised in a Christian home. I always knew "about" Jesus, but when I was 9 years old I started asking questions about having a personal relationship with Him. My parents explained to me about my sin (Romans 3:23,6:23) and that Jesus died on the cross and took my sin upon Himself (Romans 5:8, 2 Cor. 5:21) I realized that Jesus was the "Way, Truth and Life" and that I couldn't be joined to the Father for eternity, except for His death on the cross for the payment of my sin debt. So, I believed (John 1:12, John 3:16) turned from my sin and received this gift of eternal life from God.

Leigh  I come from a christian home and a VERY loving family. For me growing up, church was not an option... of course, I am extremely thankful for that... but when I was 9 years old, I had the most horrifying dream about dying, it frightened me so much, that I went in my parents room and asked my Mom, "How can I be sure that when I die, I will go to heaven?", at that point, she shared the plan of salvation to me and I asked the Lord into my heart.

Q. What do the POG husbands do (jobs)?
A. Denise's husband, Stu "...is a Physicians Assistant.  He practices at an orthopedics office in Franklin." (quote from Denise).  Shelley says, "He also owns "Medical Housecalls", in which he handles anything from stitches to broken bones on-site."

Shelley's husband, David owns two Christian booking agencies in Nashville called "The Breen Agency" and "Independent Artists Agency."  He books artists like Watermark, Nichole Nordeman, Phillips Craig and Dean, among others.

Leigh's husband, Dana has been Point of Grace's guitar player for 7 years.  He's also been on other tours.  Leigh says, "he plays a 'mean' guitar," and that he's "a VERY talented musician."

Heather's husband, Brian is currently studying at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY -- working on his Ph.d in systemic theology.  He is also a teaching pastor at a church in Cincinatti, OH.

Q. How tall are the girls?
A. Shelley - I am
5' 2" and shrinking...
Heather - 5'9
Leigh - 5'3 and 1/2
Denise - I am about 5' 5". Now that Leigh is in the group I am actually the second tallest!

Q. What are their favorite Scriptures?
A. II Tim 1:7 - "For God did not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind" - Leigh
Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose - Shelley
Always John 16:33 - "I tell you these things so that in me you will have peace.  In this world you will have trouble, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world (NIV).  Isaiah 40:28-31 (NCV) - "Surely you know.  Surely you have heard.  The Lord is the God who lives forever, who created all the world.  He does not become tired or need to rest.  NO one can understand how great His wisdom is.  He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak.  Even children become tired and need to rest, and young people trip and fall.  But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again.  They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired." - Denise

Q. Where did they go to college?
A. We went to Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR, except for Leigh.  We didn't meet her till after college.  But, Leigh has TWO college degrees.  I guess she's the smart one of the bunch. - Shelley.
I graduated from Anderson College in S.C. with a Fine Arts degree in Vocal Performance and went on to finish with a BA in Religion at Charleston Southern University - Leigh
I went to college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR.  It's an amazing school with wonderful people.  I'm still so thankful that God led me to go there. - Denise

Q. Does POG write any of their own music/lyrics?  If so, which songs?
I co-wrote one song on our second album called "The Love He Has For You", but besides that we haven't written any of our own songs. - Shelley
Not really.  Shelley co-wrote a song on The Whole Truth called The Love He Has For You.  We have dabbled in songwriting, but realized pretty soon that it wasn't a great gift of ours.  I wrote a couple of songs with Marty from 4Him and one of them was recorded by Truth.  It is called "Let Go." - Heather

Q. Does POG read or answer any of their fan mail?
A. Yes, we have someone at our management company who retrieves all of our fan mail.  She takes care of what she can herself, for instance a picture or autograph request from things we supply her with, then, she sends each of us a packet every so often that contains letters for each of us to read.  Sooooo, we don't read it all, but we do read as much as we can.  Please note our new fan mail address: Circle of Friends - 9 Music Square South #214 Nashville, TN 37203. - Shelley

How do the four of you keep your friendship so strong when you are together day in and day out on the road?

SHELLEY: The relationship that exists within our group is special, maybe even extraordinary. I mean, after all, four girls together for nine years with no major fights? (Well, maybe one or two, but definitely fewer than I can count on one hand.) That's not just unusual; that's God.

Sharing life events has a way of cementing friendships, and we four girls have shared a lot. When I think of Denise, I think of her grace and personality. Terry is known for her caring heart, and Heather has always been synonymous with loyalty. All of these qualities join together to complete a perfect circle of friends for me.

What has been one of the most special songs that Point of Grace has recorded?

TERRY: The first time I heard the song, "Circle of Friends," I cried. I was sitting in a hotel room in Nashville, listening to the song on my little cassette player, and I thought of the girls. I knew right way that this song would mean something special for us as a group. I'm not often overwhelmed by a song, but when I am, I know God is gently leading us toward recording it. What a joy it has been to perform this song in almost every state across America to all those huge circles of friends. I love songs that unite us girls as friends and edify the body of Christ. "Circle of Friends" has done that.

Can I trust God to provide a future mate? Why should I save sex for marriage?

SHELLEY: Have faith and know that God has a love just for you. But what do you do in the meantime, in the lonely times? Let me challenge you to pursue God rather than a boyfriend or girlfriend. The love and peace that He brings is so much more fulfilling than any person will ever be. Please don't misunderstand me. Marriage is a wonderful adventure. The first year of my marriage has been a blast. I love being married because I believe David is the love God had chosen for me. And I am so thankful that on my wedding day I had the peace of knowing that I had waited. David was worth the wait.

Don't let a weak moment take away something you can never get back. I believe that if you stay out of situations that could turn out to be compromising, God will reward you with great relationships. Do you trust God with your future? If you do, then don't give in to the ways of the world.

When a high school girl from Nashville was asked why she was waiting to have sex until marriage, she replied, "I want my future husband to know I loved him even before I knew him." That all teenagers would be able to say the same-what a precious thing in God's sight.

(excerpt from "Steady On" devotional)

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

HEATHER: The fact that I get to use my gifts to glorify God, travel and meet people.
SHELLEY: Meeting people from all different places, also being encouraged that there are a lot of great, committed youth out there.
DENISE: Being around such wonderful people, the girls, our band, the people at concerts. Singing about the hope I have in Christ.
TERRY: I enjoy feeling like I'm contributing something positive to the world.

What do you enjoy the least?

HEATHER: Being away from home.
SHELLEY: Definitely packing my suitcase.
DENISE: Being gone sporadically away from family, church, and friends where we have no routine.
TERRY: I do not enjoy traveling very much.

What do you think each of you would be doing if you were not a part of Point Of Grace?

HEATHER: Honestly, we've been doing this for so long that I have no idea.
SHELLEY: I would love to be a restaurant critic, but I'd probably be a music teacher.
DENISE: Be at home with Spence, sing on a praise team at church, and possibly work at Baby Gap.
TERRY: I might be teaching kindergarten, or just being a mommy at home.

What is the most recent valuable lesson you have learned?

HEATHER: That the things of this world are temporary and only satisfy momentarily. We should seek to be wholly satisfied in God (2 Corinthians 16:18).
SHELLEY: When JFK,JR and Carolyn Kennedy died, it really reminded me that we're not promised tomorrow and our youth really isn't invincible.
DENISE: When I have something negative to say, "keep my big mouth shut!!!"
TERRY: I am learning more and more how to choose my words wisely before speaking. That doesn't' mean I'm good at it, but I'm learning.

How do you think teenagers today have it differently from when you were going through your high school years?

DENISE: It seems like there is much more to be afraid of. They definitely have more negative influences in their lives and can't float along just being a "good kid". They have been forced to say and live what they believe in as a Christian.
SHELLEY: I think there is much more of an emphasis on looking good and looking older.
