An enormous diesel pickup chugs its
way down
the street, announcing itself
before coming into sight. The behemoth
is loaded top to bottom with musical gear.
As the giant engine huffs to a stop and
the doors swing open, the last thing one expects
to
see emerge is the two petite, shorter than
average women of roots music
group Alathea.

Radford it’s difficult to imagine how
she elevates her barely five
foot frame into
the giant truck, or how band mate Cristi
Johnson can
generate enough power in her

W H O T H E Y A R E...
Alathea is a delightful pop/folk duo (formerly a trio)
from East Tennessee. Their style is very unique and
very fitting, considering where they are from. Lead
singer Mandee Radford says she is inspired to write
some
of their lyrics while taking in the beauty of her
surroundings. They operated as an indie group
for several years before their sound caught the
attention of Rocketown Records. They recorded
one CD with Rocketown but have returned to their
"roots" and are now indie once again.
